Daisy's Unexpected Injury

We were startled to find Daisy with several deep cuts on her leg and upper thigh Tuesday morning. We’re not sure how she got the cuts, as we checked the pasture for hazards like nails or loose wire.

Despite her calm demeanor, we knew immediate veterinary care was necessary!

Road to Recovery

Dr. Splawn at Weems Equine Hospital expertly treated Daisy's wounds, suturing the lacerations and administering pain medication, antibiotics, and a tetanus shot. To facilitate healing, a small drainage space was left in the main wound.

Homeward Bound

We are happy to report that Daisy is now resting comfortably at the Sanctuary! To ensure a speedy recovery, she will be confined to her stall for the next two weeks. We will continue to monitor her closely and provide updates on her progress
