Lose a Leg, Gain a Friend: Thumbelina Update
Thumbelina, our newest baby goat rescue, has been a trooper through her journey of healing. For eight long weeks, she wore a cast on her fractured leg, and we all hoped for signs of improvement. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the bone showed no signs of healing. After careful consideration, we made the difficult decision to amputate her leg.
Surgery Day
On Wednesday morning, Dr. Avery performed the surgery, and we are thrilled to share that Thumbelina was back home that very evening! Her resilience never ceases to amaze us.
Healing & New Beginnings
After her surgery, Thumbelina was on stall rest for two weeks to ensure a smooth recovery. When it was time to remove her sutures, everything looked great! With her healing well, we’re excited to share that she’s now living in the Observatory with her new friend, Stargazer.
A Bright Future Ahead
Thumbelina may have lost a leg, but she has gained a friend and a fresh start. We're so proud of her strength and can't wait to see what the future holds for this brave little girl!
