Strangles Check: Round 2 of Pharyngeal Washes
It's been 60 days since the last Pharyngeal wash to test our horses and donkeys for Strangles.
Round Two Testing
Dr. Splawn and her team revisited after months of quarantine to perform another round of Strangles tests. The procedure involves passing a tube through their noses, flushing out mucus, and collecting samples for testing at Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory.
Crossed Fingers for Negative Results
With fingers crossed, we awaited the results. The good news came – almost everyone tested NEGATIVE except our last horse, Mae, who is still in quarantine. She will be retested for Strangles in 30 days before rejoining the herd.
Joyful Reunion
Our herd is happily reunited, with horses in the first pasture and donkeys and goats in the second.
Thanks to everyone for their support and patience. Stay tuned for tour and volunteer updates in the weeks ahead!
